I love powwow drums. Their tone is deep and powerful, and you feel
it through your entire body.
In the open, the drum can be heard a mile away.
It took up to a year to complete a powwow drum. I had to find a down cottonwood tree and get permission to cut it. Once the log was cut, I hollowed it out and let it dry naturally for many months. Then I selected a hide -- an entire hide -- for the drum. These drums were completed with ceremony, prayer, and giving thanks. |
