Custom Made Drums
Nearly all my drum sales were custom orders.
I maintained a large inventory of hides and drum frames so that I could make the drum a client wanted.
As I made a drum, I had a ceremony for that drum and that client, and I wrote the client's name
inside the drum. Drums typically took one to two months to complete.
I kept a large supply of completed rattles and rattle materials on hand so that I could meet the varied goals of my clients.
Rattles took many days to create because of the many intermediate shaping and drying steps during their creation.
If I did not have a rattle in stock, it might have taken one month to complete.
I utilized Bear, Buffalo, Elk, Horse, and Moose in my work.
I worked hard to get the best possible hides, but the hides I obtained were always the byproduct
of something else. Whenever possible, my hides were tannery rejects, and I gave
them a spiritual purpose they would not otherwise have.
I guaranteed my creations for one year. If a drum or rattle failed during that period,
my policy was to offer repair, replacement, or refund.
In the course of 20 years, one drum skin split and was replaced.
I shipped via the U.S. Postal Service and packed drums and rattles very securely.
My shipping fees only covered my actual costs.
Shipping and handling charges for the continental United States were included with each item, but
shipping internationally did cost more.
Thank you, USPS, because no drum or rattle was ever lost or damaged during 20 years of shipments.
Payment had to accompany the order and was most easily done with PayPal (at www.paypal.com).
You did not need to have a PayPal account; all you needed was a credit card.
You gave PayPal the same information you gave to any online merchant.
I would say, "Let me know what you want, and I will send you a PayPal invoice."
Your privacy was protected by me. I did not share client names or other information. I did not pester
clients with offers to buy. I didn't have a newsletter, so I did not make any regular mailings.
I used PayPal (see "Payment" above), so I never saw or had access to your credit card numbers or bank accounts.
All the items I offered were legally obtained in North America and legally purchased in the state of Kansas where I live.
I did not knowingly ship anything that was prohibited in a client's home state or country.
I said, "If you are not sure, please ask before ordering."
It was the client's responsibility
to ensure that the order was legal and proper in the client's state or country.
Customs duties, if any, were the client's responsibility.
