Glowing Rawhide Rattles

These are rattles that produce brief flashes of light with hard shaking in a dark environment. This is a traditional effect that I was able to recreate utilizing translucent rawhide and clear quartz crystals.

Examples of Glowing Buffalo Rawhide Rattles

When you hold the rattle head next to a light, you can see the quartz crystals through the rawhide.

From New York: I tried the lightning rattle out two nights ago and was blown away by it. I've never had a rattle so 'alive' in my hands; once the stones were warmed up, the rattle easily produced beautiful flashes of white light that illuminated the entire rattle head, while producing a deep and lovely rattle sound. It is simply magical.
